If couples have decided to break up, mediation will help them workout a fair division of the assets. It will also help them focus on the needs of the children and reduce suffering for all, through dialogue and a facilitated agreement. The agreement will allow the parties to leave the mediation with compassion rather than conflict. Leave behind the bitter conflict of the court room. After the 6th April 2011, all matrimonial matters will have to attempt mediation before going to litigation.
The ethos applying to the above situations also embraces similar family welfare conflicts dealt with by local authorities, including disagreements between authorities as to funding. All can be resolved effectively through mediation.
